Above is a quick step by step on the exact adjustments made using lightroom. Please note that in the first step I did clone out the rock in the background before continuing making the adjustments. Remember that creating clean edits doesn't have to be a long process. Start with adjusting your white balance, then move on to lighting the portrait. 

 

If you have a hard time seeing the actual adjustments here is the list of adjustments I made:

Step 1: Remove distraction in background

Step 2: Start with color balance 

Step 3: Adjust your exposure and contrast

Step 4: Adjust your highlights, shadows, whites and blacks

Step 5: Curve Adjustment 

Step 6: Make it sharper and reduce noise
